Le Orme - Torino, Italy 1975

Another band generally and rightly included in lists of the best of the 1970's Italian prog rock is Le Orme, which happens to be my preferred within the genre.
This concert recorded in Torino in 1975 from the audience sounds clean but distant from the PA. The setlist has emphasis on tracks from the album Contrappunti from 1974.
Absolutely recommended for me are their previous albums, Uomo di Pezza from 1972 and Felona e Sorona from 1973.

Premiata Forneria Marconi - Ultrasonic Studios, New York 1974

PFM or Premiata Forneria Marconi is one of the top Italian bands from the prog rock movement called R.P.I. (Rock Progressivo Italiano) that had its heyday on the 1970's decade.
Formed in 1970 in Milan by classically trained musicians who had previously been in other bands, they released in January 1972 Storia di un Minuto which was very well received. This lead to the recording of a new album the same year, Per un Amico, that would expand their success out of the Italian borders.
In 1974 PFM did their first North American tour supporting Poco, Robin Trower and Dave Mason.
This concert at the Ultrasonic Recording Studio in Hempstead was part of this first tour in the States.
More R.P.I. to follow soon.

9-21-2009

Veteran guitar legend presents a rocking romp through his record collection
accompanied by Irish chanteuse Imelda May and her band.
Towards the end of the show Beck invited Wood and Page to join him on stage.
The fact they were sitting in the balcony might have prevented them joining in,
although Beck had a bit of fun at their expense, claiming they were "too chicken".
