Link Wray & Robert Gordon LIVE Bottom Line (New York, NY)AUG 14, 1977

Bottom Line
(New York, NY)
AUG 14, 1977

Early rock guitarist Link Wray has the distinction of being one of the only—if not the only—guitarist to have been banned from the radio for an instrumental song. The ominous and gritty slow blues number "Rumble" (1958) scared the shit out of radio programmers who were convinced that Wray was glamorizing juvenile delinquency and anti-social behavior.

To put it plainly, Hill brings daggers back to the stage and studio.
Overlapping soulful, sensual and bold vocal tones with powerful chrome-plated riffs and swagger, her voice finds a home in it – a soul singing, bar rocking, roots revivalist, that writes with frank self-reflection at a dancing tempo.

A solid performance of the Pretenders at The Ritz, New York, in January, 1982 still with the original line-up, something that would change radically in months to come with sad events such as the death of James Honeyman-Scott in June. Fortunately Chrissie Hynde would pursue the bands career.
