3 years later..... STILL HERE!

3 years ago today I was diagnosed with  the C thing.

For now the battle is a tie!  

No signs of any thing and all scans and more show NADA for the last 9 months!

so Cancer 1  RF 1 after the first bout!!

I want to say thnks all for your support in what were trying times 

for my family and myself.

Thanks to those that took time to send get well wishes

and express their support! 

Meant a lot to me !

We keep on Rockin N Bluesin here !

Radio programs, part 1

I have been planning for some time to share stuff different of the usual unofficial recordings that are the essence of Soundaboard. 

So, here is some of that.

My affection to rock'n'roll music was triggered in my teens, in the early 80's decade, by the music that was coming through  radio stations when radio djs were not submitted to the playlist obligation that became common years later. Only afterwards I began to acquire cassettes, vinyl records and CDs.

This interest for radio never disappeared to the point where I became a professional in the field :)

This August I will share some radio programs I've been collecting, mostly recorded through the station's webstream.

Starting with some recordings of the excellent Joe Elliots's radio show at Planet Rock, the U.K. radio station.

Willie King, blues guitarist and singer, known for shunning fame 

and playing at a local bar in Mississippi

King performed at national and international festivals

 but mostly played near his home, most notably as a regular at Bettie's Juke joint in Mississippi. He described his  music as "struggling blues"

because of its focus on the "injustices in life in the rural South"

The Beach Boys - Paramount Theater, New York 1993

1993 saw the release of a 5 CD boxed set called Good Vibrations Thirty Years of the Beach Boys. It contained unreleased tracks in addition to many worthy hits and catalog gems.

This show is from November 26, one of nine special shows that took place in November of 1993.

The setlist was extended and included semi-acoustic versions of rarely performed songs that were featured on the boxed set.

It's was twenty years and some days ago, June 12, 2001.

U2 recorded on the second of two sold-out performances at the First Union Center, Philadelphia on the first leg of the North American Elevation Tour.

Bono was notoriously ill but managed to do the concert.

Big Jack Johnson 15th Piazza Blues Festival (2003)

Found hidden in my pile here !

Big Jack was a true Bluesman and played with the 2 old timers from

 the King Biscuit  Radio show!

He received his first big break in 1962 when he sat in with the duo of Frank Frost, 

who was playing both guitar and harmonica, and drummer Sam Carr at Clarksdale’s Savoy Theater. Both men were considerably older Carr  was born in 1926, Frost in 1936  and had been playing together for a number of years, initially in St. Louis.

Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul - Savoy, NYC 1983

Little Steven or Miami Steve or Steven Van Zandt is an American singer, songwriter, musician, producer and actor. He became known to public eyes by being part of Bruce Springsteen's band.

Van Zandt has his own solo band called Little Steven and The Disciples of Soul, active on and off since the 1980s and what we have here is a recording from April 1983 of one of their shows with the original line-up.

"Miami" Steven Van Zandt also has a syndicated radio show named Little Steven's Underground Garage.
In its website you'll find hundreds of archived shows, from the very first made in April 2002 until the most recent ones.
