Midnight Oil - Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, London 1993
Midnight Oil won eleven Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Awards during its career, including induction into the Hall of Fame in 2006. At the induction, ARIA chairman Denis Handlin described Midnight Oil as true legends that always led by example in a uniquely Australian way with music that is powerful, uncompromising, inspiring, entertaining and enduring.
Their highly politically/eco engaged themes are still timeless and as relevant as ever!
Seen them in the 80ies one of the best live act ever !

Hubert Sumlin & David Johansen - Howlin' For Hubert (Live)
Hubert SUMLIN with David JOHANSEN – Howlin’ for Hubert (Live) 2004
Live, Chicago Blues Festival June 10,2004
David JOHANSEN ex NY dolls !
Hubert Sumlin, now 78, is used to playing concerts like “Howlin’ for Hubert,” at the Jazz Standard through this weekend.
He was the guitarist who played the silvery leads on Howlin’ Wolf’s great Chicago blues records of the 1950s and ’60s.
On Thursday every tune was from Howlin’ Wolf’s songbook, and Wolf’s name scarcely needed to be mentioned. It’s a Hubert Sumlin gig now.
It helps if Wolf’s voice can be invoked, though, and that explained the presence of David Johansen. Mr. Johansen, who has worked with Mr. Sumlin before, is naturally comical with his baritone. His version of Howlin’ Wolf got at the broad humor that was always there, no matter how many times Wolf has been compounded into a feral myth.
Mr. Johansen also has a healthy sense of shtick: In songs like “Three Hundred Pounds of Joy” and “Who’s Been Talkin’,” he was full of eager petulance, a skinny man trying to fill out an extra-large suit.
But the real action arrived a little later. The guitarist James Blood Ulmer joined the band halfway through the set, and now there were three guitars, including that of Jimmy Vivino, of late-night television’s Max Weinberg 7, who acted as the evening’s musical director. And at the luckiest moments, there were triple-deckered guitar solos through slow music, showing completely different approaches to the instrument.
Mr. Sumlin — who sang, in a thin voice, on one song, “Sitting on Top of the World” — plucked his leads with his fingers, mostly restricting himself to the three higher strings. He was playing a Fender Stratocaster, and he made the most of that guitar’s vocal-sounding tones, with glottal stops and throaty cries.

Jimmy Thackery & The Drivers - Waterfront Park, Portland, Oregon 2002
Born in Pittsburgh and raised in Washington, Thackery co-founded The Nighthawks with Mark Wenner in 1972 and went on to record over twenty albums with them. In 1986 he began touring with The Assassins, a six-piece original blues, rock and R&B ensemble which he had previously helped start as a vacation band when The Nighthawks took one of their rare breaks. Originally billed as Jimmy Thackery and The Assassins, the band toured the U.S. Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, South, and Texas regions. The Assassins released a variety of recordings on the Seymour record label, two on vinyl (No Previous Record and Partners in Crime) and the 1989 CD Cut Me Loose.
In the wake of the Assassins 1991 break-up, Thackery has been leading a trio, Jimmy Thackery and the Drivers, whose early recordings were for the San Francisco, California based Blind Pig Records. In 2002 Thackery released, We Got It, his first album on Telarc and in 2006, In the Natural State with Earl and Ernie Cate on Rykodisc. In 2007, he released Solid Ice again with The Drivers His latest album 'Feel the Heat' was released in April 2011.

Howlin' Wolf - Live in Denver 73
Howlin' Wolf (a/k/a Chester Burnett) was one of the true originals of the blues. His recordings for Sun and Chess from the 1950's until his death in 1976 are among the finest Chicago blues recordings of all time. Few vocalists possess the power and passion of Howlin' Wolf.
This concert is with eddie shaw and his band unfortunately Howlin wolf is only on the last few tracks stilll a great set!!
Anyone looking for the Wolf live stuff I recommend Howlin Wolf Live in Cambridge Ma 1966 and Live in Europe 1964 you cant go wrong with these ! there is a couple other bootlegs like Live Key Largo's, Chicago (2-23-69) but sound quality of these is poor at best if anyone interested I guess i could load at some point.

Music journalist Tony Russell described Harman as an "amusing songwriter and an excellent,
unfussy blues harp player"
Harman performed as a blues harmonica player and singer in Chicago, New York, and elsewhere before
moving to southern California in the 1970s. There, his Icehouse Blues Band played alongside Big Joe Turner, John Lee Hooker, Freddie King, Muddy Waters, Albert King, B. B. King, T-Bone Walker, Lowell Fulsom, Eddie "Cleanhead" Vinson, Johnny "Guitar" Watson, and Albert Collins.[3] In 1977 he formed the James Harman Band. Over the years their line-up has included Phil Alvin and Bill Bateman, who left in 1978 to form The Blasters; Gene Taylor, who departed in 1981, also to join the Blasters before moving on to The Fabulous Thunderbirds; and Kid Ramos. Alumni also included the late Hollywood Fats who, after leaving his own band in 1980, played alongside Harman for five years.
Harman became known as a skilled, reliable musician, whether for a backing band or leading his own ensemble. His band recorded several albums during the 1980s, before settling in 1990 at Black Top Records.
Numerous Harman songs have been used in films and on television, including "Kiss of Fire" (from Those Dangerous Gentlemen), which was on the soundtrack of The Accused. Harman has received
several W. C. Handy Blues Award nominations, for songs on his own releases and on other artists' albums. He has been inducted into the Alabama Music Hall of Fame and received the "Best Blues Album of the Year" award from the Real Blues magazine.
James Harman blues artist since 1962, 31 releases as of 2013, tours 28 countries every spring, summer and fall. He is most likely playing somewhere today !!
Dont miss him if he is in your neighbourhood!
