The Rock Show with Johnnie Walker - BBC Radio 2 (2024)

Johnnie Walker was an English radio disc jockey and broadcaster. He began his career in 1966 on pirate radio station Swinging Radio England before joining Radio Caroline. Then joined BBC Radio 1 in 1969 and BBC Radio 2 in 1998. From 2009 to 2024, he presented Sounds of the 70s on Sunday afternoons and The Radio 2 Rock Show on Friday nights from 2018 to 2024.
On 6 October 2024, Walker announced his retirement from broadcasting after 58 years because of ill health. 
On his final Rock Show, on October 25, Johnnie played his favorite rock anthems from artists as The Rolling Stones, Deep Purple, The Kinks, etc.

Tom Petty's Buried Treasure Christmas Edition

Tom Petty's Buried Treasure was a radio show that Petty presented during several years. It began in December 2004 and was initially aired on XM Satellite Radio.
The songs in his playlists were rock'n'roll, blues, and R&B rarities mainly from the fifties and sixties from his personal record collection.
This Christmas special was episode 13 of season 3.

Bill Nelson - Keystone, Palo Alto, San Francisco 1981

Guitarist, singer-songwriter and composer, Bill Nelson was the founder of Be-Bop Deluxe, an influential group that was active between 1972 and 1978, having released some excellent albums in such short career.
In 1981 he did a U.S. tour supporting his solo album, Quit Dreaming and Get on the Beam.
From the same tour is this show from July 29, at the Keystone, the legendary live music club in Palo Alto, San Francisco.

Sweet – Santa Monica, CA 1976

The Sweet was an influential band during the 1970s, its music distinctive with an unique blend of hard rock, glam and pop.
This recording was on their first U.S. tour, billed as the Give Us A Wink Tour, which culminated with a sell-out show on 24th March at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium.
On the encore they played Free's All Right Now and were joined on stage by Ritchie Blackmore in tribute to Paul Kossoff, who had passed away just five days prior to the concert. Kossof's band was supposed to be the opening act and were replaced by Sammy Hagar.

The Undertones - Paradiso, Amsterdam, The Netherlands 1980

From Derry, Northern Ireland come The Undertones, often cataloged as a Punk Rock band but their music has many elements of Pop and New Wave.
This is from their performance at the Paradiso in Amsterdam on March 15, 1980, during their first European Tour.
Most of the setlist is comprised by tracks from the first album, released in May 1979.
Trivia: Teenage Kicks was legendary radio DJ John Peel's favourite ever song to the point that words from the song's chorus was engraved on his tombstone:
"Teenage dreams, so hard to beat."
