At least a third of the stuff Dixon claimed to have written was ripped off of older artists. He certainly didn't write shit for Lowell Fulson, Percy Mayfield, and a plethora of other greats who surpassed him by far as lyricists. As far as him getting the credits back for artists who had been supposedly ripped off, he actually registered the rights for his own publishing company and took most of the money. There's your "true blues legend".
