Procol Harum - Easter Island (1969)

Aboard for the first time, Procol Harum, a mandatory band from the sixties with big classical and blues influences. They got mostly known because of the mega-hit A Whiter Shade Of Pale, but there are naturally other so good or even better compositions on their catalogue.
This recording was caught live in two places: the Fillmore West in San Francisco and the Troubador in Los Angeles, both shows dated April 1969.

Sound Quality: 9

Thanks for the FLAC it was an upgrade from my MP3 of this disc.
As the name of the disc implies it was from Fillmore East not West.

Tracks 1 to 9: Live at the Fillmore East, March 15, 1969
Tracks 10 to 14: Live at The Troubadour, April 1969

Normally a file this size takes me 20-25 mins to download but this one took 2 1/2 hours. I hope in the future you don't use Crocko again.

I agree with the first comment, this download site sucks!
Nice blog though with good postings.
Thanks

I made download mirrors for both files.
Despite the disc name I believe tracks 1 to 9 are from Fillmore West, SF, April 03 1969.

Thanks for adding D/L mirrors for the files.

Actually, I now think the name Easter Island refers to their performance being on Easter Sunday not east coast or Fillmore East so you are probably right that it's from April 1969 but since Easter Sunday in '69 was on April 6th that the performance was on the 6th not the 3rd.
They played Fillmore West on April 6th as well.

Fillmore West, San Francisco, CA April 3-6 1969
Procol Harum, Buddy Miles Express, Blues Image Lights: Brotherhood Of Light

Fillmore East March 14 – 15, 1969
Procol Harum, Pacific Gas & Electric, the Collectors

However, after listening to it again the radical stereo separation of the guitar and organ in one channel and vocals and piano in another doesn't reverse itself until the 11th track so I'd say 1-10 is the Fillmore show and 11-14 is the Troubadour show in Los Angeles.

The only way around the slow downloads from various hosts is to buy a premium subscription. Be thankful that these hosts allow free downloads.
