This was the last Jefferson Airplane concert with Marty Balin, one of their founders.
An excellent broadcast from a very wide stereo mix, with only some minor interferences, recorded at the Winterland Ballroom, San Francisco.
The mighty Airplane shared the bill with Hot Tuna, Grateful Dead, The New Riders Of The Purple Sage and Quicksilver Messenger Service.

great airplane show thanks!!
What's the actual date for this recording?
I'm not so sure this was "Marty's last" given that I saw the Airplane in mid-November of 1970 in NY and Marty was definitely with the band. I have the photos to prove it
Can you please verify the date of this recording? Thank you . . .
merci
concert date please
This show is reportedly from October 4, 1970.
Thank you for this great show. The Airplane was a major band, with fantastic musicians, marvellous records. Now we have the internet and the easy to find boolegs, it is an evidence that this band was huge. I just love the Airplane. thanks for the gig's date.
A French lover of the Airplane.
This was broadcast as both a tv and a radio simulcast; there are many boot versions out there, including TALES FROM THE MOTHERSHIP boot LP.
This is from a reel-to-reel recording and is more complete than that LP and other recordings out there.
This was not Balin's final show with the Airplane even tho he did not perform with them the following night but that was because of the news that Janis Joplin had died.
It wasn't until the spring of '71 that he quit for good.

If it is, in fact, Marty's last show, it's from Nov 28, 1970, Fillmore East, New York, NY - based on info from the Jefferson Airplane official website.
