Thanks! I was actually at this show forty years ago! Ernie K. Doe opened, known for Working in the Coalmine.

Correction to my comment, it was Lee Dorsey, not Ernie K Doe!

I was at this show as well. Toronto's B-Girls and reggae artist Mikey Dread were also on the bill. IRS Records considered signing the B-Girls as their "girl band" but instead opted for The Go-Go's. I saw the B-Girls a number of times as they were frequent visitors to the NYC area in those days.

Dread was booed off the stage by those open-minded Clash fans. I saw something similar at a Clash show at The Palladium on September 21, 1979 (the night after Pennie Smith took the photo that wound up on the cover of London Calling). The two openers were Sam & Dave and the Undertones. During Sam & Dave's set, a guy about four rows in front of me yelled "boo, disco" the entire time they were on stage. After a while, a few other nutjobs joined in. Disco? Sam & Dave? Gee, I wonder what that was about?

I hope the B-Girls were better than the Go-Go's :)
