This historic festival, that started in the year 1970, had in its '89 edition acts like The Pixies, R.E.M. and John Hiatt amongst others.
The present recording was taken from the radio transmission, with only 32 minutes it is very likely to be only part of the concert.

East Coast Blues Summit - CBC Studio 1, Halifax

Directly from the Soundaboard blues section by The rippin' Frog:

East Coast Blues Summit: Morgan Davis, Matt Andersen, Garrett Mason, Linda Carvery, Carson Downey, Kim Dunn

Recorded: Mar. 10, 2011

Venue: CBC Studio 1, Halifax, Halifax, NS

The east coast has been a hotbed of blues music for,at least, the past fifty years. Many styles and influences...country blues, swing, urban and jump, to name a few, have contributed to what
is now an east coast sound and approach.

CBC in the Maritimes decided the time was right to showcase this wealth of blues and to produce a musical special for radio, television and online. The East Coast Blues Summit
brings together those influences, styles, and an incredible group of Maritime singers and musicians on one stage performing some of the music that inspired them as well as originals.

Matt Andersen, Morgan Davis, Linda Carvery, Garrett Mason, Theresa Mallenfant and Carson Downey are all award winning artists with deep blues roots and emotional delivery. The band is a special group of players, all being recording artists in their own right.

From the very first notes of rehearsals right through to showtime there was an atmosphere of excitement and joy to be playing together.

Suzie Vinnick, Donna Grantis and Christine Bougie are three Toronto women who are known for their songwriting skills and musicianship. As part of CBC Music's celebration of Guitar Month, we thought it would be fun to invite the ladies into the studio to show off their guitar skills.

It turned out to be a fun session for them as well. Not only will you hear the ladies perform their own songs but you can also catch them trading riffs as they collaborated with each other.

Check out some choice blues and jazz guitar with a ladies' touch.

John Mayall - Live at The Centre Vancouver

More blues aboard thanks to The rippin' Frog, this time with John Mayall in Vancouver.

John Mayall - Live at The Centre Vancouve

British born blues legend John Mayall got a very warm welcome from over a thousand devoted fans in the plush surroundings of The Centre in Vancouver for Performing Arts on Remembrance Day 2009. An obviously delighted Mayall returned the love with a three-hour long show, some of which is highlighted in this special CBC Concerts on Demand offering. With over fifty albums released during his career, Mayall is one of the most prolific and celebrated artists in the blues genre. This show featured music ranging from the 1966 "Beano" album, a classic, that famously included a young Eric Clapton on guitar, to his 2009 release on Eagle Records, called "Tough". He has lived in California for decades but on June 10, 2005 Queen Elizabeth named John Mayall an officer of the Order of the British Empire at the same time that Brian May of Queen and Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin also received the same honour.
