Johnny Copeland Live at the Chicago Blues Festival '93

Along with his friend Albert Collins, Johnny Copeland was the most celebrated Texas bluesman of his generation. His huge, soul-drenched voice and intense guitar made him instantly distinctive. After decades of struggling as a journeyman blues and R&B player in Houston and New York, cutting dozens of singles and receiving some radio play, he burst on the international blues scene with his album Copeland Special.

Copeland was born in Haynesville, Louisiana, United States. Influenced by T-Bone Walker, he formed the 'Dukes of Rhythm' in Houston, Texas, and made his recording debut in 1956, signing with Duke Records the following year. Although his early records met with little commercial success, he became a popular touring act over the next two decades.
His early recording career embraced blues, soul and rock and roll. He cut singles for Mercury, Golden Eagle and All Boy, amongst others. His first single was "Rock 'n' Roll Lily" and he later cut successes such as "Down On Bending Knees" and "Please Let Me Know". For the most part, his singles featured Copeland as a vocalist more than a guitar player.
Copeland also played at the 1985 Montreux Jazz Festival, as a guest with Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble. Vaughan and Copeland performed the Bob Geddins song, "Tin Pan Alley" together on Vaughan's Blues At Sunrise compilation album. He also played on the first edition of BRBF (Blues Peer Festival) later that year.
 He won a Grammy in 1987 for best traditional blues album for the album Showdown!, recorded with Albert Collins and Robert Cray.
His later years were dogged by ill health due to a congenital heart defect. He died, aged 60, in Harlem, New York, from complications of heart surgery for a heart transplanted six months earlier.
His daughter, Shemekia Copeland, established a successful career as a singer.

Royal Southern Brotherhood is an impressive collective of experienced musicians. In my opinion they play some of the best blues, rock and soul music that has been heard in the last years.
According to Devon Allman (Duane Allman's nephew) on a blog post from 4th July 2012: "The combined playing experience clocks in at about 170 years".

Sean Costello   Live At The Bradfordville Blues Club (2007)

Sean Costello (April 16, 1979 – April 15, 2008) was an American blues musician, renowned for his fiery guitar playing and soulful singing.He released five critically acclaimed albums before his career was cut short by his sudden death at the age of 28. Tinsley Ellis called him ‘the most gifted young blues guitarist on the scene... he was a triple threat on guitar, vocals and as a songwriter.
Sean Costello was found dead in his Atlanta hotel room on April 15, 2008, one day before his 29th birthday.A medical report later determined that he died of an accidental drug overdose.
Posthumously, Costello's family revealed that he had suffered from bipolar disorder, and set up the Sean Costello Memorial Fund for Bipolar Research in his honor.

Curtis Salgado Live @ Edmonton Blues Festival 2010 (Canada Live CBC Podcast)

2010 Edmonton Blues Festival: Curtis Salgado

From Portland Oregon, harmonica player, songwriter and singer  Curtis Salgado blurs the lines between blues and soul music.

When he performs, he draws every drop of emotion out of the music, as if his life depends on it. And for Curtis Salgado, it does. Two years ago he was diagnosed with liver cancer and told he had eight  months to live, unless he got a liver transplant which would generate medical bills upwards of half a million dollars. With no health insurance and few funds, the man who is one of America's finest blues/soul singers needed  a little help from his friends. When your friends and admirers include the likes of Steve Miller, Robert Cray, Bonnie Raitt and Taj Mahal, you've got a fighting chance. Numerous benefits were held in multiple cities including a  benefit concert featuring Miller, Cray, Taj Mahal, The Phantom Blues Band, Everclear and Little Charlie & The Nightcats.

Curtis got his transplant, though there were a few twists and turns in the road before that happened.
 A little less than two years after his initial diagnosis, Curtis was able to record Clean Getaway,
his latest album whose title has an obvious double meaning.

Salgado's set was the Sunday night closer at the 2010 Edmonton Labatt Blues Festival.
 For the crowd that night, it wasn't a concert; it was a conversion.

Artists

    * Curtis Salgado - vocals, harmonica
    * Tracy Arrington - bass, vocals
    * Lloyd Jones - guitar
    * Dave Fleschner - keyboards
    * Russ Kleiner - drums
    * Dave Mills - trumpet
    * Gary Harris - saxophone

Los Lobos Live in Gemany 1987

 Los Lobos, Spanish for "The Wolves", are a multiple Grammy Award–winning American Chicano rock band from East Los Angeles, California. Their music is influenced by rock and roll, Tex-Mex, country, folk, R&B, blues, brown-eyed soul, and traditional music such as cumbia, boleros and norteños.
I have been following this band since their first recording in the 80ies and they are truly one of the best blend of styles you will find! They won best live act in America award a few times and in the late 80ies Rolling Stones magazine named them the best kept secret in the U.S.
I dont have much infos on the show  others than it was somewhere in Germany in 1987
sorry no flacs  but great MP3 quality. More of them coming up soon!

Enjoy! and support these artists!

I received a direct request for this in the mail and I'm happy to share it here, after all there's never too much Rory, at least for me.
This seems to be copied from an unofficial release that goes by the name of Denim & A Strat (yeah, really) from a show at My Father's Place in Roslyn, NY on September 8, 1974.

Tinsley Ellis Live At Jazzbones Tacoma, WA August 2009

Sound Quality:  9.5
Source: Soundboard

 A hard-rocking, high-voltage blues guitarist most often compared to Stevie Ray Vaughan, Tinsley Ellis is hardly one of the legions of imitators that comparison might imply. Schooled in a variety of Southern musical styles, Ellis draws not only from fiery Vaughan-style blues-rock, but also Texas bluesmen like Freddie King and Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, the soulful blues of B.B. King, the funky grit of Memphis soul, and numerous other electric bluesmen. Ellis has been praised in many quarters for the relentless, storming intensity of his sound, and criticized in others for his relative lack of pacing and dynamic contrast (he's also been dubbed a much stronger guitarist than vocalist). Yet no matter which side of the fence one falls on, it's generally acknowledged that Ellis remains a formidable instrumentalist and a genuine student of the blues.

 As always, Support this artist by seeing him live and buying official stuff. !
