Carolyn Wonderland - Live on KUT-FM, Univ. of Texas at Austin 2004

Carolyn Wonderland - Live on KUT-FM, Univ. of Texas at Austin 2004

NOTE:   This an acoustic set with her keyboard player
includes all the radio chat.

Wonderland dropped out of Houston's Langham Creek High School to pursue her music ambitions.  In 1999, Wonderland moved to Austin, Texas; in 2001, she lost her apartment lease after her landlord became ill, and decided to live out of her van since she was spending more than 300 days a year on the road performing.
Wonderland's instrumental abilities include guitar, slide guitar, mandolin, trumpet and piano. Although primarily a blues artist, Wonderland likes to incorporate elements of country, swing, zydeco, surf, gospel, soul, and cumbia into her musical mix. She usually performs with Cole El-Saleh on keyboards and Robert Michael Hooper on drums.
Wonderland also performs with the Imperial Golden Crown Harmonizers, raising money for local Austin charities, food banks, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, and on behalf of the legalization of marijuana

Janis Joplin Get It While You Can Honolulu 1970-07-08

The one and only!

Janis Joplin and the Full Tilt Boogie Band
Mega-rare restored first-edition vinyl "Get It While You Can", Honolulu International Center Arena, 1970 -07-08 RAW SOUNDBOARD FABULOUS RECORDING retracked and rejoined.
What you have in your hot little hands is the original edition of "Get It While You Can", which was pressed on yellow vinyl a very long time ago.

I have the more recent reissue which runs a poor second on quality, and does nothing for listener. You have a great sounding Janis at top form to listen to, a rowdy audience, PLUS Mr. Asshole Announcer (who hasn't a clue of how to deal with them). It's simply great.

This is a raw soundboard, you can feel the room shake if you turn it up loud enough. I had a decision to make, either to lose a little bass and kill the hum in the recording, or to let it stand. I've chosen to let it stand, I simply don't think it's intrusive enough to mess with. The tracks have been repositioned to make the modern listening experience a bit better:

Sugar Blue - Chicago Blues Festival 1996

If you don't know Sugar Blue (James Whiting), check him out.  He's simply an amazing harmonica player; think James Cotton, Carey Bell, Big Walter Horton, Junior Wells, and (for you younger groovers) John Popper.  He's made it into the rock and roll record books with his memorable playing on "Miss You" from the Rolling Stones' "Some Girls" release. He also played on "Emotional Rescue", "Tattoo You", and he accompanied the Stones on the "Steel Wheels" tour.  This is a scorching show, with excellent sound.  The band's tight, and moves comfortably through blues, rock funk, and jazz styles.

"Blue is a technical wonder. He blows torrents of intense, quicksilver-lightning runs -- swooping, soaring, purring, and wailing, sometimes sustaining high notes while chording beneath them. His chops are scary...Blue balances flash with feel."
-- Tony "Little Sun" Glover

Lucinda Williams Live San Francisco, CA - 1989-01-28

Lucinda Williams
(born January 26, 1953) is an American rock, folk, blues, and country music singer and songwriter.
She recorded her first albums in 1978 and 1980 in a traditional country and blues style and received very little attention from radio, the media, or the public. In 1988, she released her self-titled album, Lucinda Williams. This release featured "Passionate Kisses", a song later recorded by Mary Chapin Carpenter, which garnered Williams her first Grammy Award for Best Country Song in 1994.
Known for working slowly, Williams recorded and released only one other album in the next several years (Sweet Old World in 1992) before her greatest success came in 1998 with Car Wheels on a Gravel Road, an album presenting a broader scope of songs that fused rock, blues, country, and Americana into a more distinctive style that still managed to remain consistent and commercial in sound. It went gold and earned Williams another Grammy while being universally acclaimed by critics. Since Car Wheels on a Gravel Road, she has released a string of albums that have also been critically acclaimed, though none has sold in the numbers of her 1998 breakthrough. She was also named "America's best songwriter" by TIME magazine in 2002

Love with Arthur Lee - Bergen, Norway 2004 (+ remaster)

And now Love with Arthur Lee at the Ole Bull Teater in Bergen, Norway on April 23, 2004 performing the majority of the masterpiece Forever Changes.
I found this an excellent show but as usual with soundboards the sound was very dry, in this case the volume was also too low.
So hands to work and now we have a remaster that I find pleasing to listen to, at least more than the original.

Samantha Fish Live At Sellersville Theater (08.02.2015)

KC’s Samantha Fish, 22, gives the blues a fresh twist!

and well pretty to booth!

Kansas City-based Samantha Fish has been on a major roll ever since she teamed up with Cassie Taylor and Dani Wilde on Ruf’s 2011 release, Girls with Guitars, and fueled by the trio’s Blues Caravan tour of Europe and the U.S., created an international buzz in the blues world. Later that same year she recorded Runaway, her solo debut on Ruf, which mixed gutsy riff-blues rockers like “Down In The Swamp” with the mellow small-hours jazz of “Feelin’ Alright,” while marinating her songwriting in the groove of the Rolling Stones and even tipping a hat to Heart. “It’s all the sounds I grew up with,” she explained at the time, “with my own spin.” Earlier this year Samantha joined label mate Devon Allman for a sultry duet of the Tom Petty classic, “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around,” that appeared on Devon’s Turquoise CD and accompanying video.
Hitting a receptive international blues and rock press, Runaway was hailed as a thrilling opening statement, earning a string of rave reviews and radio airplay, climaxed by her winning the Blues Music Award (BMA) for “Best New Artist Debut” in 2012. “I’m truly humbled by the recognition,” Samantha said afterward. “I can barely wait to make record number two…
This recent concert even includes for your head banger side a cover of Black Sabbath War Pigs!
