After attending another mind blowing Roger Waters show a couple of days ago (no politics talk here please) I feel like listening to old Floyd tunes, when the band was a 'more' tight unit than in later years.
Found this 30 minute recording recently, it has songs from the album The Dark Side of the Moon that the band was playing for some months before its release on March 1973. Taking into account that this historic record is now 50 years old should be a good one to capture our/your ears.
From what I read it was broadcast by a Tokyo FM radio station, probably pirate, with the recording done with mics in the audience.
Sound Quality: 9
Source: Audience--»FM Broadcast
Track List:
1. Speak To Me
2. Breathe
3. The Travel Section
4. Time
5. Breathe (Reprise)
6. The Mortality Sequence
7. Money
8. Us And Them (partial)
9. Japanese Radio Announcer

pink floyd... good stuff. for me their best album is "animals" (other than the bookended "pigs on the wing" songs, which just seem unnecessary) and when they would do it live as early as 1975 (circa "wish you were here") its interesting to hear the different song lyrics...
their one bad album (again, for me) was "the final cut." roger waters is a good musician but you can tell on that album that his ego is getting in the way and the band is suffering for it. everyone pans "momentary lapse" because it's the first non-waters album, but it's got some great stuff on it - "on the turning away" has one of the top david gilmour solos of any pink floyd recording.
thanks for the post! hope you enjoyed the roger waters show.
I'm with you on Animals, my preferred PF album. For me, Sheep was the highlight of Roger Waters show.
Wasn't there a 'Roger is a...' comment? It really upset me
In the post I asked "...no politics talk here please..."
I don't mind discussing it privately, not here.
