On December 23rd 1972 a rock'n'roll machine hit the Madison Square Garden in New York. Its name was Grand Funk Railroad and they that had just released their sixth studio album, Phoenix.
It was a benefit performance for the Phoenix House drug rehab center and got a live nationwide broadcast. The opening act was Freddie King, imagine being there!

Hi Soundaboard,
Definitely want to be the first one to comment on this one. I just bought on Discogs the two amazing live LPs Grand Funk Live and Caught in the Act. Amazing sounding LP's... So, right in time for a listening pleasure this concert.
Thanks a lot and as sound quality should equal the official LPs, in for a good heavy music trip.

Hey Derek, I have Caught in the Act as a single CD, it's great. I prefer it to the Live Album.
Do agree, Caught in the Act is their live masterwork.
No way. Live Album was clearly their masterpiece. Fantastic sound and energy. One of the best live rock album ever. The posthumous GFR Live 1971 Tour is also great. They lost their magic when they became a four-piece band.
