Molly Hatchet - Grand Rapids, MI 1979 (AtticRock Remaster)

Early Molly Hatchet here, my preferred period, the band was on tour to promote their second album, Flirtin' With Disaster, released in 1979.
Recorded and broadcast by WLAV 97 FM at the Great Northern Music Hall in the city of Grand Rapids, Michigan on December 13, 1979.
The Harp Jam, with more than 12 minutes, is really nice with small solos from each member of the band.

Interesting...I had a crack at remastering this recently too, Good gig

I missed that one. Have you been using openvino in your remasters?

titus luxor said...

No but I've been opening vino :)

That ain't fair ! You guys, AtticRock and TitusLuxor are causing me a terrible headache. Awful. I spent the whole afternoon checking both remastered versions of this concert. Believe it or not, I even called my wife for help. What's the best remaster ? This one is smoother, this one is rougher ? This one is more lively... this one is more soft.. and so on, we discussed on an on. Now I took my decision, tweeking it a little bit with MagixAudioCleanic for my own ears.
Please, my friends, don't ever put me in such position to chose between your friendly remastered version. Such a heartache,
Greetings from Paris,
Keep on rocking guys !!!!

Great... you got me curious so now I have to check Titus's version :)

Very quick analysis: my version has less tape hiss (ty openvino) and treble. You can check this in the quieter parts, if you find them hehe..
Titus applied more compression turning it louder.

Agree with your analysis. I put a little more stereo separation and increased high end treble, just a little on your less compressed version. All the best,
