The Outlaws: Uniondale 1979

Once again aboard The Outlaws, for me one of the best southern Rock bands.
This concert was recorded during the Playin' To Win tour and after some research i found that Molly Hatchet was the opening band. What a show must have been these two together around these years!

The Outlaws and Molly Hatchet on the same bill must have indeed been a great show? How about The Outlaws with Marshall Tucker opening? They traveled the B circuit for a few years and came here to Rhode Island a couple of times before the tent-theatre was sold. They drew a biker crowd rivalled only by Willie Nelson, and a few seats more than Charlie Daniels. Oddly enough, the guy who sold it was a biker himself, but not the real deal - one of those asswipes who thinks you can live the life if you buy all the "right" toys.

But I digress. They were absolutely great together. I miss that traveling act, and the tent where they played.

The correct track list is, no introduction (not as a separate track, anyway), 2-9 as shown here are actually 1-8, 9 is Cry Some More, and 10-15 are as they are listed here.

I twice saw The Outlaws headline shows featuring Molly Hatchet, once at the Long Beach Arena (California 1978) and once including .38 Special (Lakeland Civic Centre, Lakeland, Florida 1979) and several other times over the years (alongside others) until Hughie's untimely departure (also caught the current band with Henry Paul and Monte Yoho etal keeping the flame alive!) This band has never done anything but sertiously kick ass each and every time that I've had the pleasure of seeing them. That a group of this magnitude has not been deemed worthy of inclusion of the "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame" more than speaks for the shortcomings involving that farce of an establishment.

Thank you, Titus, for including this testement of their worthiness here. The document more than speaks for itself...

Thank you for your words Rob, once again it was me that shared this, I don´t think Titus likes Southern Rock that much...

Sorry, AtticRock, I've got it straight now. That's ok about Titus, too...at least he won't be standing in front of me at any Allman Brothers shows then.

I was at this show, I think it was in 1978, I believe. Molly opened for the Outlaws. The show was recorded and played on King Biscuit. This was the first concert I ever attended. They had the giant screen. The lighting and camera men were not familiar with Danny Joe Brown's movements and kept losing sight of him. I had a cassette of the show. The Outlaws were just amazing and Molly held their own as well. My brother took me to the show and we left at the start of Green Grass and High Tides.

This was the show that made me an outlaws fan forever. I had seen them at the same place 4 months before open for Marshall Tucker.
